Mountain biking infrastructure at its very best on a mountain bike holiday in the SalzburgerLand
Hardly any other federal state in Austria embraces mountain biking as passionately as the SalzburgerLand. Around 5,000 kilometres of signposted MTB routes, first-class bike parks and legendary trails make this scenically diverse federal state a top destination for mountain bikers in the Alps. From the legendary singletrack trails in Austria’s largest biking region of Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, through alpine summit tours and demanding elevation challenges in Flachau, to the five bike parks catering for every level and riding ability – in the Salzburg region, modern cycling infrastructure, genuine cycling expertise and impressive mountain landscapes come together.
From the Salzburger Sportwelt to the cycling mecca of Saalbach
SalzburgerLand is one of Austria’s leading mountain biking regions. Across thousands of kilometres of cycle routes and numerous official trails, leisure cyclists, e-mountain bikers and ambitious trail enthusiasts can discover the full diversity of the Alps. Regions such as Flachau and Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn offer the full spectrum of varied cycling experiences.
Whilst the Salzburger Sportwelt delights with scenic alpine tours, family-friendly routes and the Stoneman Taurista, the cycling mecca of Pinzgau entices visitors with legendary trails, renowned bike parks and international MTB events such as the UCI MTB World Cup or the iconic Glemmride Festival. It’s a lovely dilemma – but we’re happy to have this ‘luxury problem’! After all, every region in the SalzburgerLand has its own unique charm and character.
Where flow trails meet alpine bliss
SalzburgerLand brings together contrasts you can’t help but love: whilst spectacular trails and lines await at the Epic Bikepark Leogang and in Saalbach Hinterglemm and Leogang Fieberbrunn, the tours in Flachau lead through unspoilt alpine pastures and up to peaks with breathtaking views.
Over 400 mountain huts along the routes invite you to stop for a bite to eat, whilst crystal-clear mountain lakes provide a well-deserved chance to cool off.
Those seeking major challenges can take on the BIG-5 Bike Challenge or rack up unforgettable altitude gains over several stages on the Stoneman Taurista. In between, there are scenic panoramic tours, family-friendly cycling options and countless trail adventures. It is precisely this blend of sporting challenge, alpine natural beauty and genuine Salzburg hospitality that makes the SalzburgerLand one of the most versatile mountain biking destinations in the Alps.
