A biking holiday with the Flatschers is a biking holiday in the heart of the nature. With a family connection and a great deal of warmheartedness. You’ll enjoy relaxation and a time-out from daily life – that’s no surprise, as manager Bernhard takes care of his guests not only as a landlord and chef but also as a mental trainer and bike guide; Monika provides an additional sense of relaxation with her yoga and meditation courses. The Flatschers are running the Friedlwirt in Unken in the Salzburgerland in the 6th generation. As well as freshly renovated rooms, there are also generous alpine holiday apartments available.
Apart from that, everything else at the Friedlwirt is about biking: go on one of the four weekly guided bike tours and discover the wonderful Saalach Valley between rocky cliffs and lush alpine pastures. Join a tour into the neighbouring border triangle of Salzburg-Tyrol-Bavaria once a week and cross (your) borders. Or discover the ravines and pastures of the Saalach Valley on one of the guided easy and e-bike tours. And don’t worry: there are many wonderful places around the Friedlwirt where you can take a deep breath and recharge your batteries. On days when you leave the bike behind, you can enjoy excursions to Salzburg and the Königssee lake – or wild water sports, climbing tours or yoga sessions. That’s an active holiday in the heart of nature!

Hier oben stehen und die Aussicht genießen - zwischen Reiter- und Loferer Steinberge über’s Steinerne Meer, bis hin zum Alpenhauptkamm und auf der anderen Seite bis ins Alpenvorland über Salzburg hinweg - jedes Mal freu ich mich aufs Schwarzeck und auf die Ruhe dort oben. Manchmal ist dazusitzen und die Landschaft zu genießen, das einzige was man braucht, um glücklich zu sein.
Seit über 12 Jahren darf ich nun schon mit unseren Gästen auf Tour gehen. So oft wie möglich, versuche ich mir die Zeit zu nehmen und die Touren selbst zu begleiten - es macht einfach Spaß, den Leuten unsere Region näher zu bringen - über Kultur, Geschichte und das Leben zu erzählen. Die Gäste und ihre unterschiedlichen Herkunftsnationen besser kennenzulernen, ist auch jedes Mal sehr spannend.
Dann geht es an zahlreichen Schluchten und Klammen vorbei, zu den Almen - wie beispielsweise der Wildalm, mit ihrer grandiosen Aussicht. Oder über den Staubfall auf die Reiteralm, auf einen Käsekuchen, und weiter zur Höllenbachalm, auf eine zünftige Jause. Immer wieder erstaunt mich, wie variabel die Region ist. Eine schöne Panoramatour rund um die Reiter Steinberge oder ein bisschen „traillastiger“ rund um das schöne Sonntagshorn. Eine gemütliche Tour auf die Wildalm oder die zahlreichen Möglichkeiten, die sich dank der E-Bikes nun eröffnet haben.
Da hat sich viel getan in den letzten 12 Jahren. Zu Beginn habe ich noch gemeinsam mit meinen Gästen die Trails erkundet. Nun kenn ich so ziemlich alle Strecken und kann, dank meiner Erfahrung, die Touren an die Gäste und deren Leistungsstufen anpassen - jede Tour gibt schließlich mehrere Varianten her. Mittlerweile machen wir uns auch immer öfter den Spaß, mit den E-Bike’s über die Berge zu sausen.
Und dann fahre ich wieder über die Loferer Alm, zum Schwarzeck - gönne mir noch einen Kaffee auf der Kechtalm und genieße die Ruhe und wunderbare Aussicht. Und schon zaubert es mir wieder ein Lächeln ins Gesicht.
