You can set off from the hotel on the Dachstein loop or the region’s new signature trail: the BergeSeen eTrail that takes you through the Salzkammergut. Tradition and hospitality have played an important role at the traditional Landhotel Agathawirt for around 400 years. The Schenner family has been running the mountain bike hotel for 200 years. The hotel combines protected Renaissance double windows, 17th century frescoes and original Altaussee marble with modern extensions, cosy rooms and regional specialities.
Andrea & Bernhard are not just passionate hosts but are themselves also enthusiastic mountain bikers. Bernhard is a qualified guide and takes his guests 1x per week on the most beautiful tours through the Salzkammergut. Good food plays a key role – so the tours always include a stop at a rustic chalet. The manager is available to provide guests with tips & tricks every day, and bikers can meet up every evening at the regulars’ table in the pergola or Stüberl. I love mountain biking ... but I love enjoyment even more.
Meaning no bike tour without a hut, without a stop or without relishing the view across the landscape on a break.
When we are out and about somewhere else, I always get asked the same question: What makes your Salzkammergut so beautiful?
My answer is always the same: YES, there are other beautiful regions with fantastic huts and great trails. BUT there are not many regions that offer this unique combination of mountains and lakes. And there is not just one but 76 lakes!
My own level of fitness is not so good but I know the region very well. My guests can always ask me about tours, truly “delightful views“ and huts in the region. For more comprehensive and technical information, there is Bernhard, my partner, who is a qualified mountain bike guide and likes to take our guests on ”tours with the boss“. Helmut and his team at the Bike Centre also help almost daily in addition.

MTB Tour: Die Salzkammergut Runde
Genießer-Runde in jedem Sinne! Die Tour beginnt mit einem Highlight - dem Ostuferweg entlang des Hallstättersees. Hier kann man den Blick auf den historischen Ort Hallstatt genießen, welcher sich auf der gegenüberliegenden Seeseite an den Salzberg schmiegt. Ein absolutes Highlight ist auch die Überquerung der Hängebrücke zwischen Obersee und Obertraun. Ab Obertraun geht's ins Koppental, zuerst ein kleines Stück entlang der der Koppentraun, welche sich ins Tal eingräbt. Hinauf geht's auf den Koppenpaß mit all seiner Steile. Aber einige Höhenmeter sind schon notwendig, um das Einkehren später auch wirklich genießen zu können/dürfen! Die Anstrengung belohnt der schöne Blick auf das Ausseerland und das idyllische Altaussee - nach einem Einkehrschwung in der Blaa-Alm ist es das reinste Vergnügen, durch das schattige Rettenbachtal nach Bad Ischl zu biken. Grober Schotter - ausgewaschen - ein wenig herausfordernd aber nicht zu viel - auch für E-Mountainbiker perfekt!
