We asked the host why you should come to the Montanara in Flachau for biking:
You enthuse so much about your native home, the Salzburger Sportwelt Amadé. What makes this region such a fantastic bike region?
It is mainly the vastness of the region with its valley-crossing tours, providing many different versions of tours with beautiful viewpoints. Whether leisure biker or ambitious sport bikers there is something for everyone here.
What is your favourite tour?
The Frauenalmrunde of course. It is the local tour of Flachau. It offers challenging uphill routes, quaint and cool alpine pastures for a break, a beautiful mountain view, especially to the Ennskraxn, and then a long, flowy downhill run with a few trails along the route.
Apropos trails: what is available here?
The Wagrain Bike Park is our flagship here. There you find eight different trails of various levels of difficulty from blue to black and a bike shuttle with the Flying Mozart gondola lift. There are of course several fine trails in the Salzburger Sportwelt too. This network of different trails is going to be extended gradually.
Are there any specific ideas already?
Yes. The next big step has already been realised. The “Stoneman Taurista“ by Roland Staudacher opened on 7 July 2018. The trail leads 123 km and 4500 altitude metres through the Sportwelt and, apart from the Wagrain Bike Park, is the next big MTB highlight here. The Stoneman is a must for every biker!
We heard of the Flachau Bike Night. Can you tell us more about it?
The Flachau Bike Night is a unique mountain bike race with floodlit slope where as many rounds and km as possible must be accomplished on a circular route within 2 hours. Thousands of spectators along the route make this a huge event and ensure a great atmosphere for every racer. Last year, I took part myself and it was just amazingly cool. But it is not just the race itself, especially the After-Bike Party provides mountain bike fun of the finest. Because Flachau does not only put great emphasis on sports but on socialising too!

Diese leichte Mountainbiketour ist besonders früh morgens ein Traum, wenn der Tau noch auf den Gräsern glitztert. Es geht vorwiegend auf asphaltierter Straße hinauf über den Schwemmberg zur Moosalm. Auf der breiten Forststraße den letzten Kilometer durch den Wald bis zum Ziel kann es schon passieren, dass einem dann eine kleine Rehfamilie über den Weg läuft und das Tageserlebnis perfekt abrundet.
