Since the early days of the mountain biking boom, the Sentiero 601 has been regarded as the epitome of a freeride trail – a trail-tour combination with legendary status, technical difficulty and a spectacular location high above the lake. This high-alpine classic winds its way from the 2,100-metre summit of Monte Altissimo down the slopes towards Torbole. The technically demanding tour featuring the legendary Trail No. 601 is recommended only for experienced cyclists – as the roughly 28.9 km and 670 m of elevation gain take you over steep scree sections, tricky rock steps and slippery limestone slabs. Rocky hairpin bends and breathtaking lake views included. A guaranteed thrill for seasoned cyclists.

However, the roughly 1,500 km trail network around the northern Lake Garda also offers beginner-friendly tours to discover. The roughly 60 km long Cavedine Valley Tour, with 760 metres of elevation gain, takes you from Torbole sul Garda through the Valle dei Laghi to Lake Cavedine without any major technical difficulties. An absolute Trentino highlight that every mountain biker should experience at least once is the legendary Tremalzo Tour: the 88.9 km route with 2,840 metres of elevation gain leads from Torbole through varied landscapes and perfectly captures the Alpine-Mediterranean character of the region. Challenging climbs up to the Tremalzo Pass are rewarded with a breathtaking descent and an absolutely unique view of Lake Garda. Perfect photo spots and the tunnels of the Ponalestra Road – typical of mountain biking on the northern shore of Lake Garda – also characterise the eponymous Signature Trail Tremalzo – one of the scenic MTB highlights on the lake!
