You can set off from the hotel on the Dachstein loop or the region’s new signature trail: the BergeSeen eTrail that takes you through the Salzkammergut. Tradition and hospitality have played an important role at the traditional Landhotel Agathawirt for around 400 years. The Schenner family has been running the mountain bike hotel for 200 years. The hotel combines protected Renaissance double windows, 17th century frescoes and original Altaussee marble with modern extensions, cosy rooms and regional specialities.
Andrea & Bernhard are not just passionate hosts but are themselves also enthusiastic mountain bikers. Bernhard is a qualified guide and takes his guests 1x per week on the most beautiful tours through the Salzkammergut. Good food plays a key role – so the tours always include a stop at a rustic chalet. The manager is available to provide guests with tips & tricks every day, and bikers can meet up every evening at the regulars’ table in the pergola or Stüberl. I love mountain biking ... but I love enjoyment even more.
Meaning no bike tour without a hut, without a stop or without relishing the view across the landscape on a break.
When we are out and about somewhere else, I always get asked the same question: What makes your Salzkammergut so beautiful?
My answer is always the same: YES, there are other beautiful regions with fantastic huts and great trails. BUT there are not many regions that offer this unique combination of mountains and lakes. And there is not just one but 76 lakes!
My own level of fitness is not so good but I know the region very well. My guests can always ask me about tours, truly “delightful views“ and huts in the region. For more comprehensive and technical information, there is Bernhard, my partner, who is a qualified mountain bike guide and likes to take our guests on ”tours with the boss“. Helmut and his team at the Bike Centre also help almost daily in addition.

Mountainbike Tour: Dachsteinrunde blaue Variante
3-Tages-Tour mit in Summe ca. 200 km und rund 4.900 hm! .... oder eine schöne Trainingsrunde für die Salzkammergut-Mountainbike-Trophy.
Gleich am Morgen "kommen wir auf Touren" wenn wir ab dem Landhotel Agathawirt die ersten rund 600 Hm auf den "Pötschen" erklimmen. Nach der Passhöhe geht's allerdings gemütlich über den Sommersbergersee durch's Ausseerland - entlang der Grundlseer Traun auf einem ziemlich ebenen Forstweg bis zum Ödensee bei Pichl-Kainisch - auf die Steinitzenalm, wo wir den mächtigen Berg Grimming besonders gut sehen und weiter durch den Almgraben gelangen wir dann zum Salza Stausee, unweit von Bad Mitterndorf.
Wie begonnen - mit einem kräftigen Anstieg - so endet der Tag - es geht bergauf auf die Viehbergalm. Als Belohnung erwartet den Biker ein herrlicher Ausblick auf den Dachsteingletscher mit einzigartigem Panorama. Es lohnt sich bei "Lenis Hütte" einzukehren und die frischen "Bauernkrapfen" zu probieren. Danach genießen wir nur noch die Abfahrt durch die bekannten "Öfen" nach Gröbming. Im Ennstal - etwa in Gröbming ist ein idealer Platz um Quartier aufzuschlagen. Der zweite Tag beginnt gemütlich durch's Ennstal - es geht durch die Orte Aich-Assag, Haus im Ennstal bis nach Ramsau und Filzmoos, wo der Dachstein zum "Angreifen" scheint, ist ein idealer Platz, um ein Quartier nach der zweiten Tagesetappe und wieder rund 70 km und 1700 Höhenmeter zu suchen. Am dritten Tag geht es über den Lahneggsattel ins Lammertal - Zwieselalm - Kleinedtalm, wo wir wieder ganz "hautnah" den Dachsteingletscher erleben, diesmal von der Südseite. Wir biegen links hinauf, auf die von Rußbach mit einer Seilbahn verbundenen Hornspitze.
Das Herz eines jeden "Downhillers" wird jetzt höherschlagen, denn beim Hinunterfahren nach Rußbach geht's anfangs auf dem schmalen Schotterweg ganz schön zur Sache. Abwechslungsreich fahren wir zum Teil auf Wiesenwegen nach Rußbach. Von dort rechts auf der asphaltierten, vorerst alten Straße, dann Einmündung in die neue Straße auf den Pass Gschütt hinauf. Jetzt haben wir beinahe alle Anstrengungen geschafft. Auf der Bundesstraße fahren wir nach dem Grenzstein ca. 1 km abwärts, biegen links in die Forststraße Richtung Iglmoosalm ein (ein Abstecher ist lohnenswert) und kommen über die Ortschaft Ramsau wieder auf die Hauptstraße, überqueren diese und biegen sofort wieder rechts ein, zuerst auf Feldwegen dann wieder auf die Hauptstraße entlang des Gosaubaches. Nach der ersten Brücke über den Gosaubach biegen wir rechts in die Gosau Leitenstraße ein, hinaus geht es bis zum Hallstätter See und zurück zum Ausgangspunkt St. Agatha bei Bad Goisern.
