Summer retreat on two wheels

The Ausseerland Salzkammergut is one of Austria’s most impressive biking destinations. With 17 tours to choose from, you can explore tranquil forests, sparkling lakes and scenic alpine pastures. In Bad Aussee, Altaussee and Grundlsee, you can enjoy panoramic landscapes while also tackling demanding climbs and collecting plenty of elevation gain. One of the most popular routes is the Salza Circuit, combining alpine scenery, idyllic mountain pastures and the famous Lake Grundlsee along approximately 42 kilometres.

The Ausseerland is known for its perfect balance between activity and relaxation. After a tour, a refreshing swim in a clear mountain lake, a cosy stop at a mountain hut and regional delicacies such as freshly caught char and Kaiserschmarren await. This unique combination of nature, enjoyment and exercise makes the region a special retreat for mountain bikers.

Trail fun at Loser Mountain

The Augst Trail is the signature trail of the Ausseerland and the first singletrack trail in the Salzkammergut region. Located on the striking Loser Mountain, this varied natural trail descends from the idyllic Augstsee at an altitude of 1,643 metres over approximately 3 kilometres and 349 metres of vertical descent. Riders cross small bridges and pass through forests and stunning alpine landscapes. Flowing turns, natural sections and spectacular mountain views make the trail both technically exciting and scenically impressive.

The modern Loser Panorama Cable Car conveniently transports mountain bikers to the trailhead. But it is not only trail enthusiasts who will enjoy the area: e-mountain bikers and leisure cyclists can also explore an extensive network of routes around Altaussee, Bad Mitterndorf and Lake Grundlsee, all offering magnificent views. In the Ausseerland in Styria, sporting challenges and relaxed summer retreat culture go hand in hand – and that is exactly what makes the region so appealing.
