Despite the moderate altitude, the Free Ride Area trail network is technically demanding; the starting points are accessible via forest tracks.

If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can explore the Pohorje primeval forest on bike rides and discover idyllic forest paths, vineyards and meadows along the seven marked circular trails. The deeply carved Oplotnica Gorge offers a special experience of nature: an approximately 2 km-long nature trail leads over bridges and wooden walkways to the remains of old mills and sawmills. The 16th-century Renaissance castle of Trebnik and the Carthusian monastery in Žiče are also well worth a detour – founded in 1160, the monastery is, after all, one of the most significant medieval monastic complexes in Central Europe.
