Small, wild & full of possibilities

The Bregenzerwald in Vorarlberg is impressive proof that great cycling adventures don’t need a lot of space: a dense network of tours, trails and leisure routes stretches between the 23 distinctive villages – from relaxed rides along the Bregenzer Ache to challenging climbs over the Schreibersattel. Mountain railways and modern e-mountain bikes bring additional altitude within reach and open up spectacular views as far as Switzerland, the Allgäu and the Arlberg.

At the Au-Schoppernau MTB Trail Centre, you can hone your technique: a family-friendly uphill trail, pump track, adventure trail and black jump line provide plenty of airtime and riding fun. Added to this are legendary classics such as the loop around the Kanisfluh or the challenging Au-Schoppernau-Schreibersattel tour. Throughout, the region accompanies you with its unique blend of nature, tranquillity and warm, down-to-earth hospitality.

From flow to Käsknöpfle: simply authentic moments in the Bregenzerwald

In the Bregenzerwald, culinary delights are just as much a part of mountain biking as the flow of the trails. After long climbs, rustic alpine huts await – offering tangy mountain cheese and traditional platters with stunning views. The region embraces its culinary traditions with the same passion as its cycling culture: down-to-earth, authentic and full of flavour. This is particularly evident in the three-tiered farming system with its mountain huts, dairy farms and lush alpine meadows, which characterise the landscape. A living UNESCO cultural heritage in the heart of the Alps.

A real highlight is the exclusive Diedamskopf Trail: accompanied by a guide from the Bregenzerwald Bike School, you’ll ride along the 3 km nature trail down the slope – across alpine meadows and flowing bends, accompanied by impressive views of the Vorarlberg mountains. Quality over quantity: this motto also applies to the culinary bike tours, where you’ll discover architecture, nature and regional specialities. When mountain biking in the Bregenzerwald, you don’t just ride through the landscape – you immerse yourself in it.
