B for mountains, stretching as far as the eye can see!

Welcome to the Brandnertal!

The Brandnertal is small enough for short rides, yet big enough to offer plenty of variety for mountain biking. Whether you prefer to rack up the altitude, work hard on your trail technique or simply want to explore Vorarlberg’s mountain landscape by bike – on a mountain biking holiday in the Brandnertal, you ’re guaranteed to find your next alpine biking adventure.

BEST OF BRANDNERTAL: 7 highlights for a cycling holiday in the Brandnertal

1. Bikepark Brandnertal: Up the mountain by cable car, down the mountain with flow

The Bikepark Brandnertal is the place to be for anyone with a passion for enduro who fancies a bit more action on the downhill runs. The bike park is beautifully nestled in the Rätikon mountains – easily accessible from Germany and Switzerland, it offers trails of all kinds, waiting for mountain bikers of every ability! A wide variety of trails totalling 30 kilometres, ranging from enduro and singletrack to flow lines, freeride and downhill routes – ensuring plenty of variety here – from your first go at a bike park to a challenging descent, from beginners to technically-savvy veterans, from adrenaline junkies to large families. There’s also bike hire, a bike school and fun mountain carts ! The trail names are simply unbeatable – from Tschack Norris to Tscharie Tschäplin; )

  • NEW: With the new 10-seater Loischkopfbahn gondola lift featuring special bike cabs, access to the bike park has been particularly convenient since 2026 – you’ll be at the trailhead in just a few minutes.
  • Kids’ Bike Park: from July 2026, there’ll be a dedicated practice area for kids right in the finish area – including a conveyor belt, visible from the Unicorn sun terrace.
  • 2 new trails: The two signature trails, Tschengla Unchained (blue) & Tschäck the Ripper (red), have been completely reshaped – perfect for families, flow enthusiasts and airtime fans!

TIP: Make sure to plan your first day of cycling in the Brandnertal at the bike park and simply try out different lines to get into the typical Vorarlberg flow.

2. Trails instead of tarmac: exploring the Brandnertal on two wheels

Mountainbiking in the Brandnertal doesn’t always have to mean going flat out. Around Brand and Bürserberg, the Rätikon and alpine meadows, there are varied routes through woods, across alpine pastures and up to vantage points – sometimes leisurely, sometimes challenging, and every now and then a panoramic view that practically calls for the next photo stop – or the next break at a mountain hut.

Perfect for: Anyone who enjoys combining altitude gain with alpine scenery whilst mountain biking.

3. Why not just take the Brandnertal cycle bus!

In summer 2026, too, the bike bus will take you and your bike comfortably through the Brandnertal valley. As usual, the bus – complete with bike trailer will run between the village of Bürserberg and the Tschengla hiking car park – and you can hop straight from your seat onto the bike park. In the mornings and evenings, the cycle bus also runs as far as Bludenz – perfect for a quick city break to the historic Alpine town in between.

4. Staying with the experts: Hotel Walliserhof in Brand

If you’re not just taking your mountain bike on holiday, but making your biking holiday the main focus, you’ll need the right accommodation. The best place to stay is with the cycling experts in the Brandnertal. At the Hotel Walliserhof in Brand, mountain bikers have come to the right place, as the hotel combines its location in the heart of the Brandnertal with the expertise of a genuine bike hotel.

Our tip: Unload your bike, change your shoes and set off straight away on your next adventure with personalised tips from manager Raimund Meyer. And why not bring the whole family along too!

5. Brandnertal Rundtour

Anyone seeking the thrill of reaching a summit will find it in the Brandnertal; those who don’t shy away from uphill climbs will be rewarded with breathtaking views. The Rätikon mountain range provides the stunning backdrop for extended MTB tours. A classic MTB route is the challenging Brandnertal Rundtour (Brandnertal circular tour) with fabulous views that you simply mustn’t miss! Around 32 km and 1,240 metres of elevation gain await you – in around three and a half hours – not counting the breaks for refreshments along the way – this extraordinary Bregenzerwald circular tour from Brand via Mottakopf and Bürs gives you a great first impression of the area.

6. Switch on the e-bike, extend the range

With an e-mountain bike, the question “How far can we get today?” quickly turns into “How much further can we go?”.

The Brandnertal offers plenty of opportunities to explore the region with electric assistance. That leaves you with more energy for the descent – or for a stop at a rustic alpine hut afterwards. After all, mountain biking works up an appetite. And after your ride, the typical Vorarlberg specialities taste twice as good on the sun-drenched terrace.

A bike holiday in the Brandnertal isn’t just about the trails and the elevation gain – it’s also about what comes afterwards.

7. From B for Brandnertal to R for ‘Repeat, please!’

The best thing about the Brandnertal? After a cycling holiday, your to-do list is usually longer than it was before. Just one more trail. Just one more ride. One more summit. And that one descent you absolutely must ride again. From bike park action to scenic MTB tours: the Brandnertal offers cycling experiences to suit all tastes and abilities – and plenty of reasons to come back.
