A white pick-up covered in stickers with a mountain bike (at least one) on the back speeds in our direction and stops.
A guy wearing a cap, beard, glasses and a chequered shirt (this is how bikers look like) gets out of the car and greets us with a cheery ”Grias Enk“. This is Johannes, our bike guide. He is our man when it comes to 2 wheels – he solves any problem with the bike or biker in no time.
He is an outdoor sportsman through and through. He is a fan of fast, technical and challenging sports – in summer as well as in winter. Mountain biking has always been a compensating sport after the ice hockey matches he accomplished as a pro. Now it is the other way around, hockey sport is a hobby and a counterbalance to biking.
Johannes is a South Tyrolean native and has been exploring the Bregenz Forest since he was 8 years old. He founded the Bregenz Forest Bike School, has created an extensive and continuously growing tour programme and has brought a breath of fresh air to the mountain bike sport in the Bregenz Forest with his ideas.
