Mountain biking in the Ötztal Valley
More than 250 peaks of 3000 metres in height provide the perfect scenery for many beautiful tours in the Ötztal Valley Alps. The abundance of approved, natural tracks for bikers is unique. Thanks to perfect signposting, the trails can easily be found even without a guide - the ideal area for single trail enthusiasts.

New in the region:

  • Bike republic Sölden
  • Flow trail “Teäre Line“ Sölden – rollercoaster-feeling for everyone
  • Pump track “rolling@Bäckelar Wirt“ and Practicing trail Sattelfest Oetz
Biking for the advanced

The Ötztal Valleys offers many possibilities and trails which only wait to be discovered by your cleated tyres. Over 900 kilometres of signposted bike tours of all levels of difficulties are provided here. Single trails, forest paths, country lanes and tracks through woodland leave nothing to be desired. The Bike Republic Sölden will be expanded in the next few weeks and will become the Mecca for enduro bikers. Up to ten new trails will make the bikers’ heart beat even faster. A pre-taste of unlimited bike fun offers the new flow trail in Sölden – rollercoaster feeling at its best. With its banked turns and waves and the not too steep route is the trail fun for everyone.

The high density of tours is surely unique in the Alps. The Ötztal Valley convinces with more than 40 designated mountain bike routes. A certain level of fitness is required for most bike tours in the Ötztal Valley. After all, some of the tours, like the one to the Wurmkogel, are situated as high up as 3.012 metres above sea level. But there is a different way: The Ötztal Valley Trail is near the valley, is 80 kilometres long and offers many lovely diversions in the longest side valley of the Inntal Valley. The journey back is taken by bus with its own bicycle trailer. Being probably the longest pump track in Tyrol, “rolling@Bäckelar Wirt“ tops off the bike fun in Sölden.

    • Practicing area Sölden
Beginners find elements which also feature on many single trails in alpine terrain at the ”Bike School Ötztal“, directly in the centre of Sölden. The perfect place to prepare for such elements without any pressure. The access to the beginners‘ park is free for everyone!
    • Newly created flow trail "Teäre Line"
“Teäre“ is Ötztal dialect and means as much as headstrong, obstinate and stubborn. The newly built flow trail starts at the Gaislachkogl middle terminus and, following the flow trail principle, leads 6 kilometres to Sölden: not many gradients but many bends and waves, thus providing top rollercoaster-feeling. Even though running only downhill, a great level of fitness is still required to master the trail. From “almost“ beginner to expert, everyone should have fun on this trail. The trail is not accessible for hikers, meaning unlimited fun in the banked curves and pumps. The last 800 running metres are more like a steep road and provide everything what technically adept bikers wish for! The last section is easily completed by biking across the glacier road.
    • Pumptrack@Bäckelarwirt Sölden
The track has not been created for bikes only – anything with wheels but without motor can be used here. The principle is: Start slowly and then increase the speed – without pedalling later on! Aim is, to gain speed through the pushing movement across the wave course. The hips keep moving during this part. In the banked curves, the arms are bent and the pedal closest to the curve remains down. The apex speed can then be gradually increased. The pump track is intended as training area and skill centre for the single trails around Sölden and promotes coordination and fitness in a playful way and is located next to the Gaislachkogl lower terminus.

    NEW: Bike Republic Sölden

Bike Republic Sölden: The hotspot in the Alps is dedicated to the ultimate bike experience for everyone
Sölden has been an insider tip for single trail destinations for some years now. The perfect trails and comfortable lift facilities of the Sölden mountain railways have been extended by the „Rolling“ pump track and the “Teäre Line“ flow trail in 2015.

The Bike Republic Sölden is a distinctive brand which differs from other bike destinations with its vast area, variety of trails and Tyrol's biggest pump track as well as its very own language. The unique Ötztal Valley dialect reflects in the names of the different lines and characterises the features of the trails in a very special way. Sölden is, due to the many facets of its trails, one vast playground for bikers, catering not only for the requirements of all-round mountain bikers, enduro bikers or freeriders.

Bike Republic will continue to grow in the coming years! During the opening weekend it was publicly announced the 15 to 20 new trails will be created in Sölden over the next three to four years. This will turn the famous winter sports location in the Ötztal Valley into a Mecca for enduro and trail bikers.
