Mountainbike Center in the Region: Bikeacademy Kitzbüheler Alpen
Silvia Mingler
I have been in my hotel in the middle of the Kitzbühl
Alps for 25 years, a landlady through and through. As bikers are simply great
guests, I decided seven years ago to integrate “mountain biking” in what my
hotel offers.
I myself, unfortunately, don’t have the legs for keeping up with my bikers, but I am available as a qualified Tyrol hiking guide to accompany non-biking guests. Our award-winning chef, Bernhard, spoils the industrious bikers rotten!
I entrust my bikers to the care of Kurt Exenberger. Kurt not only has Austrian experience, but has also biked in Australia and America. Now he runs the Bike Academy in Klausen and Kitzbühel. In addition, he is the technical trainer of the Austrian National Mountain Bike Team.
My guests love biking with Kurt or his guides in the Kitzbühl Alps. They don’t just know the best single trails, but also the nicest huts for refreshment.
Biking at the Landhotel Sportam
None of my biking guests would miss the weekly meetings with Kurti and his
guides. They wait eagerly for the programme for the next week. All endeavour hard to fulfil the wishes of my guests. The guides know the trails in the Kitzbühel Alps like
the back of their hands, and always have a ready tip on riding technique.
Guided Tours
Kirchberg has 445 km of biking in its near and wider surroundings.
There are over a dozen mountain huts
and Alpine inns giving the signal “bikers welcome!”. The Bike Academy
offers training sessions in riding technique and lays on three different tours
in three levels (light, medium, and extreme) every day. Incidentally, Kurt’s
favourite tour goes over the famous high attitude route through the
conservation area at the foot of the large Rettenstein mountain.
