Resident biker
Christoph Kofler and his wife Frau Beatrix run the Hotel Maria – He is a bike guide, mountain enthusiasts, and racing biker. His tour advice cannot be beaten, and his ideas to make biking a really special experience are excellent. The bike tours are either led by him or a guide from the Bike Academy.
The Hotel Maria is a perfect mountain bike hotel!
The Dolomites around the Hotel Maria are ideal for all kinds of mountain bike tours come out from easy to very demanding. As a member of Mountainbike Hotels, with the highest 5 cog standard, the Maria is the ideal base for bikers after a challenge.
Christoph Kofler, who runs the hotel, leads many of the mountain bike tours on offer during the week. If he is not leading the tour, then a guide from the Bike Academy will take his place. He is a trained mountain bike guide, ready with good tips, and knows many dream tours in his home neighbourhood. Christoph and his wife Beatrix run the Hotel Maria. He doesn’t only run the hotel, but is also a keen mountaineer and racing biker. All tours are put together with Krauti’s Mountainbike-Academy.
The mountain bike area in the King Laurin
Kingdom
The Rosengarten-Latemar region in the
Dolomites stretches from Schlern to Bozen and onto Karerpass and Latemar, and
the Schwarz- and Weishorn in the south. The valleys of the Tieser and Eggen run
through the high plateau beneath the Rosengarten. It is a fantastic biking area
for beginners, families, and extreme bikers.
There are great trails above 1000 m
available to bikers, right into the provincial capital Bozen. These are
accessible on the mountainside via Steinegg and the Eggental valley.
We recommend the Latemar- or the Laugen-circuit
as lovely day tours. There are a variety of tours leading past
the Weishorn and the Blätterbach gorge to Deutschnofen.
And one thing is certain for bikers:
fabulous views of the beautiful Dolomite towers and the heart of the South Tyrol. The Rosengarten-Latemar region lies in the Trudner Horn
National Park and the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature
Park in South
Tyrol.
The best way of getting here is on the Brenner motorway, turning off shortly before Bozen in the direction of Welschnofen/Karerpass. Obereggen is at an altitude of 1550 m. The little village at the foot of the Latemar is ideal as a base for mountain bike tours to get to know the area.
In addition to the hiking paths, but there are exciting and sometimes very demanding trails hidden in the woods. The tours to the passes can therefore, depending on the route, be quite challenging. Limestone features typical of the Dolomites shape the landscape, and at dusk the rocks are a bright white. The Rosengarten is well known from many pictures, and it’s glowing red play of colours in the autumn is to be seen as a motif on many postcards.
