Resident biker
Harry Ploner, bike guide and hotelier: his bike passion has infiltrated the whole hotel team. Harry gives the perfect tool tip, whether it be a beginner’s tour on easy gravel tracks, or single trails with obstacles.
Harry Ploner, landlord in the Hotel Central and qualified bike guide, is a pioneer in the development of the bike area around the Reschenpass in the border triangle of Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. It was his initiative that led to the first tour report in a bike magazine, describing the legendary “Val d’Uina” gorge.
When the bike magazines 15 years ago still had the headlines: “bike ban in Austria”, Harry Ploner, as chairman of tourism at that time, was successful in presenting the first officially open bike routes in Austria, in Nauders. In the meantime, Nauders, with the 3 Countries Bike Arena has become a dream spot for bikers, and the Hotel Central has been identified as THE biking hotel in the region in articles in the specialist magazines “Bike”, “MountainBIKE”, and “Bike Sport News”
Everything in Hotel Central focuses on biking in the summer: Harry, Martin, and Robert are the qualified bike guides in the Hotel Central, looking after all of our bike guests.
Enjoy a relaxing isotonic drink (beer) in the evening on the terrace whilst talking with the tour guide about tour suggestions, and in doing so gain one or two insider tips. That is one of the advantages of the bike guide living in the hotel.
From Austria to Italy then into Switzerland, and then back to Austria again – by bike? On one day? Yes! That is a normal touring day in Nauders. Try it out!
