Resident biker
Our own bike guide in the hotel, Erich, knows all of the trails and tours from his many years of biking experience.
Our bike guide Erich
At the Gaspingerhof, Erich is the absolute expert when
it comes to biking. He originally rode racing bikes, but here in the beautiful
Zillertal valley, in breathtaking mountain scenery, he fell for mountain
biking. Once you have ridden to one of the peaks in the Zillertal Alps, it’s
very hard not to want more. Erich wants to share this great feeling with the
Gaspingerhof guests, and likes to do that best of all by bike. It doesn’t
matter whether you are a total beginner, a leisure biker, or an extreme
mountain biker, he can find the ideal tour for you on the 230 km available. The
main thing is plenty of action and fun!
There are two ability groups each day and bike fans can cover between 500 and 1000 vertical metres. Erich’s highlight tour goes from the Krimml waterfalls to Krimmler Achental, one of the most beautiful high valleys in the Hohen Tauern region. The Krimml waterfalls are the fifth highest waterfalls in the world, with a drop of 380 m. This natural beauty should certainly not be missed.
Erich is an all-rounder and will accompany you on hikes and Nordic walking tours. He shows our guests his insider tips in the region, and knows the most authentic traditional huts and viewpoints.
It’s as if the area around Gerlos was created for mountain biking. The Zillertal Alps, Kitzbühel Alps, and the Hohe Tauern National Park, lure the Gaspingerhof guests with their tough climbs and fast single trails. As a member of “Mountain Bike Holidays” the biking guests in the Gaspingerhof hotel are very important and will feel spoilt by the way they are treated here, with “3 cog” quality of tours on offer. Of course, your bike itself would also be well looked after. Erich is always available for tips and tricks.
Expert’s tip:
It is quite usual around Gerlos that you could
encounter snow on the high altitude Alpine passes (until mid-June and from
mid-September). You should take this into account when planning your holiday.
Erich recommends regular bike checks so as to notice any damage in good time. A
checklist for a small toolkit and bike gear is also very useful for any tour.
After a long tour, take advantage of our wellness area “1001 nights” in the hotel, to bring your legs back to life again and to prepare you for the next day. It is a wellness paradise for all bikers and those aspiring to become one.
Do you need help with your holiday planning? If so, contact us! The whole team here is available to you. We look forward to welcoming you into Hotel Gaspingerhof under our motto “pure lust for life”.
